Internet outage

I recently have made changes to my Verizon plan, I cancelled the tv and the phone, just kept the internet. The next day, all of a sudden the internet service disappeared (I don't know if that's just a coincidence or Verizon is playing some twisted games). They have send me an email that there is an outage in the area. Funny how when I had the tv package there was never an issue. It's going on the sixth day now, still no internet service. My wife and I called a few times, also tried an online chat customer service, but all they do is give you same story that there is an outage, and refuse to tell you what caused it or when it will be fixed. I'm seriously considering switching internet providers because no self respecting company, especially the size of Verizon, would take a week to fix an internet issue. I will wait two more days and if this is not resolved I'm dropping them.
