"Reimagining FUBAR"

I needed to add a temporary $10.99 per month data plan to test a cellular modem. It has cost me five hours of my time, two trips to a Verizon store, and phone conversations with 10 different people. One person told me I needed the signature of our CEO or someone listed on our articles of incorporation. (For a $10.99/mo data plan!!) One person tried to trick me into signing a 2 year "business profile" with a 5-device minimum and a huge early termination fee. ("It's not a contract!!" she insisted.) I got my first bill - with a $59.99 monthly charge. I had to talk to five people before the last person fixed it. I anticipate the next hassle will be roaming charges - the cellular modem works but reports that it is "roaming". A Verizon person assured me that they no longer charge extra for roaming, but I will heed my own advice: don't believe anything someone at Verizon says until you see it in writing.

I also made the mistake of going to a store to have this device activated. A store (both corporate or privately owned) charges $40.00 for activation, but activation is free if you call them instead. I feel somewhat sorry for the store employees who are "on commission" (commission-only?) - I hope Verizon gives them at least 50% of those $40.

Verizon needs a new slogan - "Reimagining FUBAR".
