Please, all verizon customers - please know when you call customer service, we reps have exactly 9 minutes total to spend on the phone with you, and most of that MUST be spent selling you products. If we take longer then 9 minutes on the phone with you, we get written up with threats of termination, and if we do not sell you something, the same occurs. The sales quotas are outrageous we must meet or we lose our jobs. The call centers who are to provide you customer service, go over billing issues, answer questions, have become high pressure sales departments and boiler rooms. Effective, friendly, great customer service is NOT rewarded but frowned upon. Its sell, sell, sell. You customers have my sincerest of apologies when you call.

Thank you for speaking the truth. I think that most of us understand it is not the front-line reps who are the underlying problem, that they are just unfortunate cogs in this machine. I don't hate the poor rep I speak to (after 40 minutes of phone tree robo-hell). I hate Verizon management for choosing to create an environment of complete disdain for customers.

Yeah I work for the farmed out work for verizon. Nothing worse than being told you had to build rapport with someone and that person goes into a story that lasts more than a few minutes. I did the rapport building and my call lasted 15 minutes. I completed the call without making an offer and know I was past the 540 seconds or 9 minutes. Of course no business generated and a customer who might not post on here, but I got two strikes against me there. Yes the warnings and writeup and threats of termination are there. We didn't have a whiny union either. Find a good shrink and a lot of alcohol if youre still working there.
