from an employee

coming from an employee its because they implement practices that are counterproductive to customer service..the only thing important to them is making the numbers look good to the stock holders..processes are made by management who have no clue about the work nor do they want to know..only what numbers on paper should look like, not if they are actually achievable or if they are in the best interest of the customer

Half correct. The company does suck. Former tech and manager here. The union is half to blame. When you call for repair, install and then wish to speak to someone in billing, they have to transfer you to the billing dept because of the union contract. Each dept has to handle its own service because the union believes that workers will lose their jobs. That's why you are transfered a lot. Did you know that as a field tecnician with verizon you are not allowed to check the oil in your company truck because that's the MECHANICS job, not yours. I know ....worked for the company for over 20 years. Seen A LOT of shit from both the company AND the union.

The union sense of entiltement to a job and the arrogance of a cry baby/ex monopoly management make for a bunch of people that care for nothing but fir their own ass.

The don't check your oil thing depends on wether your garage uses union mechanics and not contractors. It's still on a pre drive check list at many garages.

But is the union-company battles that waste time and resources. Verizon could've have Fios deployed 10 years ago if they didn't play games including management dolling out fiber work & training piece meal for power and discipline. That is one clause the company rarely relents on, who, what and when you get trained as technician or manager for that matter. You do not get a fully trained tech or supervisor when you get a Verizon landline or tech. The fully trained are few & far between.

The union has fought certification procedures which are nothing but the specs of the technicians job just like a license for a contractor. Everytime they do certification experiments at least 50% of the tech and managers fail-miserably. Good thing Verizon and other cry baby bells don't have to pull permits on their work because they would fail and would still correcting deficencies.

We are not allowed to check our oil .management believes it takes to long to do so. The last time I did I was suspended for 1 day for not getting out of the garage on time. (20 mins from start of tour)
