8 days before the contract ends you get screwed!

So, my girlfriend switched over to my Sprint account, however we did it 8 days before the contract officially ended. Verizon will not let us pay the prorated 8 days left in the contract--instead we spoke to two arrogant employees, one of which refused to give me their employee number and both stated that we have to pay a $60 termination fee for switching 8 days too early. I was with them for 6 years and my girlfriend was with them for 5 years. Awesome way to pay us back for the 11 total years of service.

Update:

After much perseverance, we have found two individuals at Verizon Wireless who actually care! :)

Tiffany - Seattle, Washington
Laura - Wilmington, NC

Tiffany and Laura were AWESOME! Tiffany hung in there and did the best she could on her end. She even escalated the issue for us and got us over to Laura who continued to help us out tremendously. Laura is the voice of reason at Verizon. I understand that automated systems are not intelligent enough to reason the difference between cancellation 8 days early versus years of continued loyalty--however to have--not one, but two--Verizon employees (including a supervisor) not being able to make this leap of reasoning is absurd. Anthony and Rob have unfortunately caused the above posting which cannot be removed. However, because Tiffany and Laura have shown more grace and understanding than Rob, I have created this second post attached to the original post stating these facts as well. Laura and Tiffany have also saved me from writing a letter to the Better Business Bureau which I am grateful for as Verizon Wireless should be too.

Please take the time out of your busy day to personally thank Tiffany and Laura for their efforts and to also explain to Anthony and Rob the importance of customer service and the potential for future repeat business. Who knows, if Sprint cannot pull together some capital to keep their business alive, I may just be in the market for a new cell carrier. The world is a strange place.
