I know someone sits in a Verizon boardroom to think up ways to rip us off

Signed up for a Verizon double freedom bundle. First month's internet was advertised as free. Rep on phone promised to match internet price, but she had to "manually enter the discount into the system each month."

Of course the discount stopped being entered after the first month. Countless phone calls didn't correct her lie.

Then exactly 11 months after starting the service, I received a double bill for the internet. Called to point out this error - they said "we were mistakenly billing you one month behind so we caught up."

I responded "oh, so the first month that was free is no longer free now that you have gone back and billed me for that month, eh?" The rep only stammered with lame lies about "but we were billing one month behind." Over and over and over and over.

Called back, got another rep, explained the situation about being double-billed and how double-billing me was a purposeful way to get the first month "free" paid for. She put me on hold to look at the problem, came back and said "I have cancelled your internet service as requested. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

Smart, greedy move on Verizon's part. By having a rep pretend to be stupid and cancel my internet when I questioned the double billing charge, all of my long-fought-for bundle discounts were also cancelled. When the rep said "oh, I'm sorry, I will re-order your internet service" all my discounts were gone. Calling back again only got me "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do to get those discounts back." Over and over and over.

It came down to me filing a complaint with a law firm against them to get any corrective action. Letters from lawyers are paid attention to - the common customer is not. And how many customers aren't going to take that step and they just give in from exhaustion and pay the false charges? Verizon knows this.

I believe Verizon must train their reps to purposefully do these things. My personal opinion is the big wigs sit in a board room and draft up ways to confuse the customer, rip us off, get our discounts "lost," and find ways to make the advertised discounts never happen.

Verizon's corporate greed is an ugly thing and is a puss-filled boil on the ass of humanity.
