Fuck Verizon DSL

3 Months of troubleshooting for internet slow down. (What I am paying for is .768kb to 1 meg and what I'm getting is .11kb with a ping of 761ms and jitter of 149). I was told today that the problem was that they don't have the bandwidth for all the people. I then said that VERIZON over sold what they can provide. I was told YES.

Sounds like Verizon oversold DSL in your area because they purposely avoid fully upgrading the copper plant that was probably due for replacement by the 1990s. It is there job to get a set of wires and/or fibers from your house to the co. If they found a set of wires they should be able to fix them but they probably don't want to spend many resources on it. Verizon is waiting to get a certain percentage of customers on fiber/a FIOS package then sell off the copper plant.

Unless they give a full refund I would give Verizon on last chance to do something about the problems then go to your state utility regulators, then the FCC, then a lawyer, news group including a TV station. Even report them to the BBB since it involves an optional service. Document how bad the service so future customers know the real deal about Verizon.

DSL or (Damn Slow Line) isn't worth the money unless you are close to the central office (C.O.)
DSL only works decent within 18,000 feet (18kf) of the central office. And alot of things can slow DSL down including the quality of the cables.

A tech was supposed to be certain the line qualified to provide DSL in the first place by removing all side leads or bridge taps. This will eliminate extra footage from the cable pair. He/she was also to be certain the line was not still connected through to the last customers address if the pair was in prior use, which was a good posibility.
And the quality of the splices along the cable route are very important. You need to have the tech out to do a test on the line with their test equipment to be sure it's not something within the house wiring which I have seen many times.

I absolutely hate Verizon DSL. It is truly the most pathetic internet option available aside from dial-up. Verizon Wireless also sucks pretty bad as My Apple Iphone 4s is able to achieve whopping download speeds of of 1 megabyte per second.

I don't know what state your in but there is a current lawsuit in California:

http://www.fiercetelecom.com/story/verizon-faces-lawsuit-customer-over-advertised-dsl-speed/2012-04-12

FYI: As a former Verizon rep who sold DSL to customers, Verizon is well aware of what areas can and cannot have DSL off the back. They just choose to defraud their so called "VALUED CUSTOMERS" by overriding their DSL system called SSP so that unsuspecting reps "think" you can get a higher speed cause the rigged system says your location is qualified. I complained all time of this disceptive practice which is probably another reason why I was wrongfully terminated. There is a disclosure that comes up when your address "is not" going to get the speed your being sold but 99.9% of the reps never read it to the customers because they "will" lose their cash compensated DSL sale. The managers are aware if the situation because the calls are recorded and monitored and their able to view what the rep sees and types. THEY KNOW!!!! They only care and fire the honest reps who choose not to bamboozle the customers because they have lower DSL sales because they actually read the speed disclosure to their customers.

Even if your not in California I urge you to contact an attorney in your state and piggy back off of this current class action DSL speed lawsuit in California.
