Verizon is screwing me

Verizon Wireless charged me $320 for an "early termination charge" for porting my wife's cell phone number over to our new landline service. (We didnt cancel my wife's cell phone contract) After several tries, I finally got them to acknowledge this should not have happened, and that they should credit it back to my account. But by then, the parent company had automatically deducted it from my bank account. I have spent the last two weeks going between the two companies trying to get my money back from these thieves and still no luck. Just filed a complaint with the FCC and the Virginia Attorney General's office. They have given me every excuse under the sun-- blaming each other, blaming their billing cycles, blaming their supervisors, etc. Meanwhile Im trying to refinance my home and am very worried about insufficient funds in my account, checks bouncing and my credit rating suffering. Im so angry I cant think straight

When you port out a verizon number, it automatically disconnects that line since the contract is associated with that number. The early termination fee was valid, but can be reverse within 150 days of reconnecting. If the ETF was automatically taken out of your bank, it sounds like automatic payment (APO), which can be suspended by you if you need to make other payment arrangements. APO is done regardless of amount on bill, so it's best to make sure that the amount is expected.
