Haha Keith, a RI arbitrator awarded unemployment benefits to local 2323 for the 2 weeks in August. We have no contract. That doesn't bother me. Lock me out. I don't care. I'll still get paid. I can strike indefinitely. Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: 69FEED |

you have no leverage......why would the company bargain now? Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: 1F5D4D |

The union seemed to ave pretty good leverage when the company dared them to strike and they did. It took one week before they were begging the union to come back. I understand your position. You lost your job so you want the rest of your former coworkers to lose theirs. It's a sad mentality, but I understand why you are bitter. At the end of the day, you have to look in the mirror and take some responsibility for the position you now find yourself in. You screwed up bad. Man up and move on with your life. If the company and employees are more worried about contracts and strikes they cannot remain technically competent nor competative. Think of all the time wasted on basically administrative procedure rather than the technical process.
I'm not a huge fan of unions now a days but am shedding no tears for the corporation of Verizon which gouges it's customers along with it's employees.Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: 2FD7AC |

Thanks, and good luck with the Gateway lawsuit. How dare a bank foreclose on someone just for not paying? Lol Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: 69FEED |

I'm a former VZ employee was a hard core UNION head till...long story short UNION didn't help me with shit once they don't get your $15 a week they don't care, to all VZ employees on here UNION is just as dirty as VZ do what's best for you not the UNION. I learned this the hard way only place I can call brotherhood was back when I served this shit they call brotherhood is a joke. I've been on this site for a while taking smack to people like me dogging the UNION till it happened to me. Take it as you want VZ employees but that's the truth. Listen to the people that got screwed by VZ and beloved UNION. Good Day to all Venom - Verizon H8er ID: 3F7EC3 |

I hate to agree with Venom but the CWA/IBEW sole purpose as a union was to preserve current legacy jobs at Verizon/Bell Atlantic/GTE/Nynex etc. In some respects they did their too well at the expense of any future. The national strategy was to protect the legacy pre divestiture employee/member at all cost.
They failed miserably to realize it should've been about unionizing the trade like a steam fitter or carpenter. They can't even get training and job assignment based on qualified seniority.
Hey, I commend the local union reps for handling job site grievances and local issues but the national big picture strategy failed miserably.
I heard there was a several year window after divestiture to unionize the mobile/cell division but the pre divestiture members and union officials were so kiddy cat scared for THEIR EXISTING job they sacrificed their own future(they didn't want the cell division employee to compete for their landline jobs failing to realize landline could've competed/transferred into wireless as well). This was/is a typical let's keep making buggy whips mentality.
Again I complement the local union officials and reps for handling daily business wether it be firings, grievances, work rules etc. But the national union strategy failed because they were in bed and/or thought like the ma bell monopoly executives.
And as many complaints employees have about the union I guarantee they wouldn't have the pay, benefits or rights they have today. All the crap over the last decade is nothing but the execution of post divestiture plans that were supposed to be in place by the 1990s.Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: 2FD7AC |

When the unions were out it rained and as usual, the phones went out. When I called I was told that repairs would take longer than usual due to the strike, but whaddayaknow it was fixed in a day instead of the week it always took the union guys! Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: 595C56 |
