Florida Fuck Up

Two weeks without a phone is OK for Verizon. That's right, they scheduled a repair two weeks in advance and it's the same problem as last time. NO DIAL TONE. I checked it at the NID and it's their lines. IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN IT'S GOING TO BE BRIGHTHOUSE CABLE AND I'M NOT GOING BACK.

The lack of personel is a firm reason this debacle occurred. Currently 1,700 VZ hourly workers will be handed pink slips. In ten years, few will be comptent to work a trouble ticket.
You may not even get dialtone to start with.

Call Verizon ask for a supervisor and see when they expect to get your trouble fixed. Take notes.

If no results or time seems excessive report them to the state utility regulators and FCC. Also report the BBB to document their incompetence. Make sure you get credit for timeout of service. If they won't give a credit note this in your report to the regulatory agencies.

Sounds like a case of the SOS or same old story. Internal politics, downsizing, budget cuts and attitude are impediments to customer service and technical competency. In Florida that's old GTE plant. Irregardless since most copper plant hasn't been properly maintained since divestiture in 1984 repairS could take awhile.

It's true they're will be so few competent VZ or baby techs/knowledge left they minus well just abandoned the plant and customers.

Verizon has given up on copper wire plant. They more or less consider copper an 'obsolete product' and yet they sell it or 'copper wire service'/DSL. Copper still could be a valid alternative but Verizon simply doesn't want to bother.

In reality Verizon was eliminating preventative maintenance programs by the 1990s assuming those sent to fix one customer line would fix every other trouble they found along the way-LOL

All that money needed for landline repairs apparently went to the wireless division.

Just 30 million of that 138 million dollars would have eliminated alot copper plant problems. Even if it was spent on time trouble shooting and repairing/replacing damaged/wet SECTIONS of cable and not replacing entire run/neighborhoods of copper plant/cable. Basically maintenance that should've been done since divestiture in 1984.
