Insurance Policy SUCKS

Don't even bother getting the insurance, you're only going to have to pay, and pay and pay again. Pay for a new phone 50$, Activation fee 20-50$, Wait for one to be shipped to you....um...priceless? You should be able to get a phone THEN AND THERE. I am states away from home, an hour away from work, and the most they can tell me is a week wait?!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY?! When they have perfectly good ones, and enough in the backroom collecting dust...oh and not to mention they are going to send me a broke, fixed POS. SO MAD!

The fine print in any insurance policy, replacement agreement or extended warranty is always where they get you. Then alot of companies use third parties to "insure and/or replace" their products.

That could be why Verizon is treating your replacement phone as a new phone because it's coming from a third party.

Insurance is a bet. You are betting you'll need the money or service and the company is betting you wont. The company or house wants the odds stacked against you.

This is why I don't buy into the free phone WITH a multi year contract and all the fine print that comes with a contract. On a voice phone especially there is no need to get the free contracted phone which is several hundred dollars to get out of or cancel.
