Residential is Unreliable

I haven't had phone or internet service at my house for 2 weeks, but they still expect me to pay my bill? I called them the first week, they said someone would come to fix it, but nobody came. So I get online with my sprint hotspot and put in a repair request which they scheduled 8 days later. When the guy finally comes he tells me "I don't have the right truck to fix the problem" and then gets smart when I ask why he came unprepared. So I got his name and called Verizon to reschedule for the next day and guess what, nobody came again. So if I call nobody comes and if I do an online request I have to wait another week and hope the guy comes prepared. I'm going with the third option, dumping Verizon and getting something that is somewhat reliable.

Besides shopping other telco providers track how much time out of service you've had and demand a credit.

Report them to your state utility regulators and FCC-Federal Communications Commission. Also report them to the local better business bureau since Verizonn is option service in many areas. Print/make copies of a service request made online so you have trouble ticket numbers to reference. Request repair request numbers as well if you phone in.

Verizon wants to dump/sell off it's remaining copper plant. This has bee their long range goal since divestiture/loss mommy bell in 1984. They have maintained the that plant accordingly neglecting replacement, repairs and upgrades in many neighborhoods.

The life span of copper plant is 15-20 years. Many areas have telco plant dating back to the 40s & 50s with lead sheath and paper insulation on the wires or first generation plastics from the 60s & 70s.

Follow up on your repair requests. Keep any complaint letters to the facts. Think about informing the press.

Good Luck
