Verizon Lied About Contract End Date

This one is my first complain about Verizon. Back in March, Verizon called me to happily tell me that I was eligible for a new, free phone, which required a renewed contract with them. They told me that they were offering this to me because my two-year contract had ended. I was so happy that I signed up for cheaper service with T-Mobile, and then called up Verizon to notify them of ending my service with them, and to get ready to port my number. They told me that, no, my contract had not ended yet, and was actually not going to end until August. But I had already started my contract with T-Mobile. Fortunately, after explaining to T-Mobile, they refunded my money, even the money I spent for SIM cards. But stuck with Verizon until August.

Contract dates and upgrade dates are two different things. Typically, your upgrade date is four months before your contract ends. Are you sure customer service said contract date and not upgrade date?
