Make them go AWAAAAAYYYYY!

I have recently switched away from Verizon home phone and DSL services due to numerous complaints and excessive billing for unexplained services. I had to temporarily reconnect Verizon in January because my new internet service was taking a while to hook up. Then I disconnected the service. However, you can never be too sure with Verizon! So I called in March and spoke with a CSR to ensure that the account was indeed closed, and that I owed no more money. I received assurances that the account was closed and that I owed no more money. I asked repeatedly and was reassured that this was the case, so I thought no more about it and disregarded mail from Verizon because I no longer did business with them. Today I got a bill from a collection agency claiming that I owed Verizon 200+ dollars for service that was discontinued at the end of April. I called Verizon, and specifically told them that I had been assured the account was closed and that I owed no more money. They transferred me to Financial Services, who said they had no way of knowing who I talked to, and kept repeating that I was billed in May for services disconnected at the end of April. Every time I have to deal with Verizon customer service I just get angry and upset, and I don't want to feel that way anymore. I will pay this bill just to make Verizon GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm sure they'll find some other reason to bill me for services not provided!
