Verizon stole my home phone number

Verizon stole ("slammed") my home phone number from my Vonage account about 2 weeks ago. They did it without my authorization from me and without contacting me in any way. I have been trying for 2 weeks to have the number transferred back but Verizon refuses to let it go and has apparently taken the number and tucked it away in their vault. Since the number is not associated with any account in Verizon, there is no mechanism for me to get it back. I have tried for 2 weeks to contact Verizon but have been unable to speak to a human or contact them in any way. When I call or try to contact them online they ask for my Verizon number and, no matter what I reply, they say I am not a Verizon customer and just hang up.

You should be contacting Vonage about this issue. Verizon can't take the number without Vonage"releasing" that number to them. Calling viz won't help you. That's like going to Mercedes dealer complaining about your toyota
