No contract, No account, but being Charged - What?

Verizon truly has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was with Verizon for over a decade but cancelled my service this week. I tried to change plans after my rates went up over 30%. After spending several days and hours and hours on the phone on hold and being transferred to numerous people plus several times on their Live Chat trying to change plans, I finally gave up and cancelled my account. Then they had the audacity to begin charging my credit card for a new plan. I have been told by 4 reps that I don’t have an account any longer but I was still charged. Today I received a receipt for the new charges Fedexed to me by Verizon. When I called again they claimed – absurdly - that someone must have used my card fraudulently and to call my credit card company. I told them that I had a copy of their receipt for the charges and the new account document in my hand and they denied it. I plan to go to the PUC - if everyone did, they may pay attention to their service.
