I am a single man living alone and not in good healoth. I had been a verizon customer for 33 years. I had a lifeline account. This is an account for low income customers. This lifeline account is legally linked to the copper wire service. When huricane Sandy hit I lost my service. my phone service is still out. All this time I have been without service. Ibnitially Verizon promised to fix the Service in two weeks. And these two week promises lasted for almost a year. jThen Verizon informed me that I must switch to Fiber Optics. The Fiber optics switch is a two to four hour installation and they must drill into the apartment. i refused. I asked to be financially compensated for being without service for one year. They refused. They cancelled my account and sent it to collection.
I have contacted Assembly women Debra Glick, the Public Service Commission, the Moreland commission and even the utilities Workers Union. Nobody has been able to help!. the intercom system in my building was attached to the copper wire service. That has been restored.
Verizon is literally trying to kill me!

The intercom service is from your landlord, correct? With Fios, VZ can dodge around every PUC ,PSC ,local & federal laws. Plain and simple. Their lawyers, congressman and lobbyists have seen to that. Plus gadzillions of cash.

I don't know where you got your information but someone can have lifeline service on a fiber network. It's not restricted to a copper line.

You got one thing right. I am in customer service field. And also have a brain that can solve a simple technical issue. That being said. You still don't call your provider to fix a 3rd party issue.

Robert: Ignore the "anonymous" her who made the smug comment regarding not using Verizon for third party problems. He's rude, borderline illiterate, and spends plenty of time on this board insulting other people's comments. He did the same to me-- see my post number 21 from last month. Clearly this guy works for Verizon, has no life, and has absolutely no idea how to punctuate a sentence. The issue is not whether or not you should be consulting Verizon for a certain problem/concern... the issue is that Verizon should operate with integrity and point its customers in the right direction. I feel your pain Robert!
