Verizon won't give me back my dial tone

I lost the dial tone on my home phone after Verizon workers started messing with the wires down the block. I called and made an appointment for a repair call. When the repairman came he said he couldn't fix my phone -- he had to upgrade all of the telephone wiring in my house to fiber optic (even though the wiring was not broken). When I asked just to have my phone fixed, he said that wasn't allowed. Either I accept the upgrade or my Verizon service would be terminated.

Not true.......
They can not just terminate service. What happens here is the old copper lines are degraded and they no longer spend the money to replace them because they do not make the money they used to make from plain old telephone service [POTS].
If they have Fios [Fiber Optic Service] on the street they will transfer your old copper line to the fiber optic line and it should be done for free. They do NOT have to rewire your house. So you are either twisting the story or they fed you a line of BS.

We were told of this process and yes its true. Last week we were told its back to business as usual. Upgrade to fiber(no not rewire your house. Just fiber to the prem and then back to copper inside) if cust refuses to upgrade then we call in to get the copper ticket and repair. I guess vz had legal issues with that. Not suprised! They wont say why they renit.
