Disconnected yet still being charged

I cancelled my Verizon Wireless Account in May 2014, I paid the final payment in full and then still received a bill the following month. I spoke with a representative and they confirmed it was their mistake and they closed the account. The following month, I received another bill again.
I called and they told me they couldn't remove the charges without supervisor approval and that could take 24-48hrs. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they informed me that they were on their lunch break.
I have never experienced such audacity and indifference from a company or their employees before.
