Let out of contract but still billed as "suspended"

They agreed to let me out of my contract and still billed me. I was told the contract was suspended only and they charges me a fee for that plus late fees b/c I was on paperless billing and didn't port my number. They now call me every 4 hours from an automated system and hang up without any message. I am told that this is collections for Verizon. I've paid them $1100 for 6 months and cannot understand why they did this to me when they released me months ago.

Same for me. I even sent letters saying the acct. was closed & PLS. take care of the problem. Nope; I "suspended" the service. I said to close the account, I said acct. was terminated, but I didn't say "disconnect." But both those words get magically transcribed as "service suspended". Since the service is just "marginal" (their word), not totally absent, they can say it was a favor, since they thought my devices were "stolen" or "misplaced" which was never the case.
