NSF Fee Even though I called customer service and paid on time

We switched accounts at our bank and have tried for 3 months to have Verizon change the account we have set up to automatically charge our account. This time we overpaid and even got an NSF fee because their lazy customer service reps would not put any notes in the system. We will be switching away from Verizon.
