Liars and Thieves

A woman from Verizon called my office asking how old our modem is. I said it shouldn't be that old since we just switched to Fios not too long ago. She said that for modems over a year old, they will send you a newer one free of charge and that she will go ahead and send us one. I said fine. She asked for my name and email address and promised to send me a confirmation. A week later I received a confirmation--that they are extending our contract to 2 years, an additional 2-year line was added and our plan has been changed so that we'll be paying more each month!!!

I contacted Verizon customer service (Adam) and he said that he will cancel the order and will revert our plan back to a month-to-month basis. I emailed Carol Price--the sales person who confirmed the supposed order via email, and she denies that she's the person that called me. In short, there were a lot of finger-pointing, but not a single apology for this malicious, deceptive and illegal business practice. This is more than a huge turn-off. I hope somebody goes down for this as I'm sure this has been an ongoing practice at Verizon.
