7 days Trying to get a upgrade

For the past 3 weeks I have tried upgrading my phone, with the money for a new phone in hand I was originally told that I had to wait to 7 days before my contract expired (which was one day later). The next day I went in and asked and they told me that I was past due on my account (which is automatically withdrawn from the bank), the lady told me that I had enough money to buy a new phone but not too pay my bill and that seemed "messed up". So I sto r med out of the store and called the Verizon support 1-800 number and they told me to give it a day and try to go back. So 3 days later I go back where I'm told I'm still overdrawn and I just gave up on the whole thing... Now looking for a new service provider, any recommendations?
