How many Veridiots does it take to switch a router?

My boyfriend and I are moving in together (me into his house) and are both Verizon Fios customers under contract. His contract expired sooner than mine, so to minimize fees we decided to switch my account to his house.

Called and set up my install appointment easily. Woman said 'not a problem' and 'he should deactivate his account to avoid overlap'. Now I think... how can two accounts be connected to the same internet at the same time. Don't they need his permission? But oh well trust her I guess. Upgraded to a new router so that's why I made the horrid mistake of hiring a tech.

Next day get a voicemail from verizon that they cannot complete my order since someone has active service there. Apparently my boyfriend got two calls and an email as well.

I call them back, and everything is fine again. They said as long as he cancels we are all good. Up my order to 75/75 since that's what he currently had. Again they confirm my appointment for the next day.

10 minutes later get an email from verizon saying my order cannot be processed since there is still someone with active service. My boyfriend calls up, talks them through it, and they confirm that they will cancel his internet as soon as the tech shows up. They say he 'has to cancel it today' or else there will be added fees.

Come today, sitting at home two hours into my three hour window. Check my verizon and it still has my appointment set for today and confirmation that my internet at my former house was shut off. My boyfriends internet was also shut off this morning instead of when the tech showed up. Call to get an ETA and they say 'did you know someone has service at that address'. NO DUH. 'We can't possibly dispatch someone until 2 days from now at the earliest.

Finally made her just use my old router and do a self install. Now I have internet though, and I did get my activation fee waived.

COME TO ME GOOGLE FIBRE :'(
