Appallingly Incompetent!!!!

Wow. I googled "i hate verizon" and i found a kazillion like minded people.
They are beyond aggravating.
When my dad moved from assisted living to the nursing home they did not disconnect the phone from his apartment and hook it up to his nursing home room as promised. it took DAYS, and eight million phone calls and endless aggravation to get things straightened out. All while he was without any phone service.
When i signed up for their long distance plan they told me they'd cancel my other long distance carrier. They didn't. I got a bill from them.
When I needed to change auto withdrawal payment from one account to another they did it over the phone. Then they continued to withdraw from the original account. I called. They said you can't make the change it over the phone, you have to do it online. I did it online. They tried to take the next month's payment out of the original account AGAIN. I called. They said we have no record of you at all on line. You need a temporary password. Did you make the change on Verizon.net or Verizon.com? No one had told me it mattered, and no one had given me a password. I went to the site, used the password, and got a bogus page with an indecipherable error message.
Often the people on the phone are pleasant, and local. I got sucked in because I hate talking to the people from India who are trained to respond like robots. But Verizon is completely disorganized, and poorly managed. Their inability to provide service is Ironic, since they're a communication company.
THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING RIGHT. THEY DO NOT DO THINGS WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL, IF THEY DO THEM AT ALL. THEY DO NOT KEEP RECORDS OF ANYTHING. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE F- IS GOING ON EVER. I HATE THEM!!! AND NOW, HOW DID I GET INTO THIS FIX? I HAVE LAND LINE, CELL PHONE, AND FIOS INTERNET. I HAVE GOTTEN EIGHT MILLION CALLS FORM THEM TRYING TO GET ME TO SIGN UP FOR THEIR STUPID TV SERVICE.
THEY ARE IDIOTS!!!!!!!!AND I'M GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HATES THEM!!!!!

Whatever happened to caring about the employee? Did you ever think that the unwillingness to work was because we are unappreciated by management? I have worked in a call center for well over 10 years and you wouldn't believe how horribly we are treated. Both from the customer and the managers. You never know your work schedule more than 3 weeks in advance and you can never plan anything a month in advance. So, you go through life scheduling, rescheduling, canceling, and missing appointments, holidays, children's games, shows. There is also the unplanned:"needs of the business" overtime to account for. Never mind that you must pick up your children or even make that after work appointment. The managers calculate your every minute, your every word. They, in fact are people who have never had to take call after irate call after call ,,,but they judge and and threaten your livelihood with suspensions regularly, just because someone didn't like the tone of your voice. Never mind that you've had that tone for 50 of your 60 years. Respect is nil- you are called out of the bathroom over the PA system to "make your position ready".. You have no time to cough, sneeze, drink or ever finish a sentence with your coworker for they too are taking calls and are NEVER on the same 15 min break or lunch schedule as you. Unlike the Phillipines or India; there are no lounges, massages, ping pong tables, cafeteria, yoga infused resting areas. Noone is interested in relieving your stress. Instead you will find, poor working conditions, filth and debris everywhere, filth in the kitchen areas, as well as old, slow, computers overladen with software that lenghtens your access time to over 9 systems that must be viewed in order to give a half way decent answer to an irate customer that your company has f'd over. How about labeling entire areas as "cable failure" when in fact we are the ones that brought the city down while we install fios? Earphones aren't even availble, nor are cleaning supplies for the endless times that you must change desk positions for working computers or telephones or team manager changes that occur almost every 3 weeks due to manager's whimsy. These are indeed the modern day sweat shops and I know them because my mom worked in one. This is Verizon.

Both the customer and the reply by the employee are dead on!!! As an employee I can tell you that Verizon cares nothing about it's customers or it's employees. Verizon pays countless fines to the Public Utility Commission over wrongdoings and they still don't care because they still make way to much money.

As an employee that has worked for this company for over 10 years I can say that most of us that have been with the company longer than 3 years really do care about the customer's as we know that it is you who pays our salaries; however, when we try to assist you not only are our hands and legs tied but we are also bound and gagged. If we aren't fighting with management over the amout of time we have been on a call or the lack of sales we have, we are fighting our operating systems as they fail constantly. If it isn't that then it is some retarded promotion that some tool put together not taking 1 minute to think of the problems that might occur. (The TV promo was just one of countless promos that have gone wrong). The lack of training is just pathetic and on top of everything, every state has different rules, laws, and regulations that you have to know. None of us can. It is impossible!!

I have many friends that work in call centers throughout my city with different companies and whenever I hear them complain I laugh. Verizon had job openings a couple of years ago in my city and even though my friends have listened to me over the years, they still thought they would quit their jobs and go to Verizon, as it pays a little better than theirs. NONE OF THEM lasted longer than 3 months. There was a hiring of over 75 employees in a year and less than 1 year later only 4 employees were left. It shows exactly what a sweatshop Verizon is.

Take it for what it's worth but a lot of us really do want to help the customers but until Washington D.C. steps in and really cracks the whip on these bastards, nothing will change. In fact, it is getting worse by the day. I will strongly recommend to customers to do their homework, write down times and dates of every conversation, get contact numbers if necessary, and remember what agencies are out there to file complaints with.
