Fees & Douchebags

Customer servie rep told, AFTER I released myself from Verizon bondage, that I could just make an overpayment including the period after cancellation and they will simply give me a refund. Or I could just wait til the account has been adjusted...is that even a choice???
Do people actually make overpayment and they say "Yeah!!! I'm getting fuckin' refund"?
