my buddy the verizon employee

My friend happens to work for Verizon and I think he is about to stroke out. For years Verizon has claimed that they do not force their employees to make sales attempts on EVERY call. They have had top management goons as high as senior VP's lie to periodicals such as local papers all the way up to the Wall Street Journal that their employees are not forced to make sales attempts. They even had the Czar of Customer Service for Verizon on the Clark Howard show flat out lie and state that their representatives only sell when a customer calls in asking for information new products. Never would they make a sales attempt on some poor old customer who has had nothing but problems with Verizon.

My friend left the Sales center to go to another part of Verizon dealing with their web site because he truely wants to help customers. He often states that most of the people that left the Sales center did so because of stress but also because they felt their hands were tied in trying to assist customers. Now they are even forcing Web Support and Repair to make sales attempts. That is just great. A customer has a problem, they have to wait on hold for 20, 30, 40 or more minutes and rather than get their problem addressed, they are made a sales attempt. My friend states they can only spend so long with a customer so you better get that sale and who gives a rat's ass about the customer.

He states management are a bunch of drones. Employees constantly let management know of problems with customers, their bills, the billing system, promotions, and anything else that comes up but they are just nodded to and told to sit down and do their job and sell. This is a joke.

I could go on forever but I think I am going to have to take my buddy to the hospital as he looks like he is about to have a heart attack. I don't know if any of you saw Office Space but when I talk to him it really reminds me of that scene where the main actor is in the psychiatrist's office and is telling him that everyday is worse than the last.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a solution to this because most of the companies that are competition to Verizon are the same. You get shitty service from one, move on to the next until they screw you over, and move to another, if you are so lucky to have a choice of more than two in your town. It's almost as if the executive's at these companies sit around a big table just wondering how they can bleed customers dry. God help us!!!
