customer service black hole

i have collectively spent 6.5 hours on the phone just trying to pay a bill. i was hung up on 4 times, transfered 12 times, and the only time i spoke to anyone with english as their first language was when i was accidentally transfered to the new orders department. what's even better is that when i first called in, i was only trying to pay my bill! 4 hours later, i cancelled my internet service simply based on the horrid customer service i received. today i open my final bill and there's an additional 49 dollar fee for early termination! i've spent the past two and half hours on hold in india trying to get this resolved only to be told that i wasn't upholding my end of the contract so the charges will remain. tomorrow, i plan on cancelling my cell service (which is also through) verizon although i have been a customer for 10 years.
