I called text support

I called Verizon's tech support from work. I get a lady with a heavy accent. I explained to her I bought a Nintendo DS and that I can pick up three different networks but not ours because the modem/router Verizon gave us is not compatible. She suggested another modem and I couldn't understand what she was saying so she spelled the name of the modem. I spelled it back and she told me I had the correct spelling and when I looked it up on the Internet, I found that she spelled it wrong due to translation. I told her it was not a name brand and I wanted to buy something from the store. She wasn't listening to me so I hung up on her. Then she called my house and woke everyone up because they never seem to listen when I tell them that I am calling from work and that I am not home. Then she sent me a useless email with web page instructions that have nothing to do with my issue and when I responded back I didn't get an answer.

I went to the Verizon store at the mall and they happened to have a DSL representative. I told her the same problem and the answer is the same: Buy another modem and router.

I brought up the fact that I had a Linksys router that they sold us from a previous contract and that I believed it still worked because it was fine when I put it away but text support couldn't get it to work and I feel that tech support lied to me because they didn't want to get it to work. The DSL representative tried to rationalize it by saying that Microsoft doesn't support products forever and neither does Verizon. The point is that I'm the customer and Verizon is violating my consumer rights. And even though I'm on the "DO NOT CALL LIST", they are violating my civil rights by robocalling me to sign up for FIOS even though we told them "no". They sometimes call me twice a day and we're afraid to pick up the phone because they try to sign us up even though we say "no" because someone called back trying to set up an appointment.

If you are doing business with them the national Do Not Call List does not apply you have to contact them and asked not to contact you by phone.
