Daughter bought a new phone, and within 2 months if failed. Went to Verizon store near her college and was told they would exchange the phone for her for a $20 restocking fee - that makes sense - we pay for a defective phone and then get charged an additional amount. OK, new phone arrives to her dorm, 2 months later I receive a bill that includes a $299.00 nonreturned equipment fee. Evidently she was supposed to mail back the defective phone. No one happened to mention this to her AND the Verizon store KEPT the defective phone - therefore no phone to mail back. I was repeatedly told 1) the store would not do this (ie I'm a liar) 2) there was nothing they could do about this because it is company policy that we return the defective phone - we should deal with the local verizon store who didn't return the phone 2 months prior to the bill. Yadda, yadda. I dealt with 2 people, including a manager, who were rude and not helpful...I have 5 phones and have been a customer for 10 years!!! They didn't care if they lost me as a customer and basically told me so. VERIZON SUCKS!!!!!
